Yes, it is legal to resell from AliExpress because most if not all of the manufacturers and suppliers that are on AliExpress are producing their items for resale by their customers, and that includes drop shippers.

The main legal concern that comes from using AliExpress to dropship from is whether or not the products that are being sold on AliExpress violate any intellectual property rights, copyrights or patents.

That’s why it’s important to do your research on any product and any manufacturer that you want to work with.

While some products might be similar to popular products on the market, they don’t violate any legal rights and are perfectly fine to sell.

However, many times you’ll find products on AliExpress that have major brand names on them and are counterfeit and can lead to you being sued if you resell them.

For example, if you do a search for “Disney” on AliExpress, you will find no shortage of Disney branded products. However, unless the manufacturer has an agreement with Disney, they are most likely 100% counterfeit items and you should stay far away from them.

In fact, I’d avoid any products and manufacturers that sell any type of product that is related to TV shows or movies, musicians, celebrities etc because you’re begging for trouble if you try to source them from sites like AliExpress.

If you did want to get into licensing branded content like this, those companies and brands themselves will be able to direct you on how to license their content for resale, so make sure you go through those official channels in order to stay legal and compliant… and not on the wrong end of an expensive lawsuit.

The good news though is that AliExpress has millions of other products that are perfectly fine to resell and don’t violate any kinds of laws or copyrights. You just need to do your own our diligence on the products and manufacturers, and review the feedback other buyers have left for them, along with getting in contact with the seller to see how well they respond to you and your questions.

So, Can You Resell Items From AliExpress?

Bottom line is that yes – you can resell items from AliExpress. It’s a great place to find products to resell and dropshipping through AliExpress is perfectly legal with the vast majority of products they offer.

How Do I Dropship From AliExpress To Amazon?

While it is possible to dropship from AliExpress to Amazon, it’s not advised that you go this route because even if you can follow Amazon’s guidelines on dropshipping, there are many other factors that can lead to getting your account suspended by Amazon.

Before we get into those factors, let’s look at Amazon’s policy on dropshipping here:


Amazon Drop Shipping Policy:

Drop shipping, or allowing a third-party to fulfill orders to customers on your behalf, is generally acceptable.

If you intend to fulfill orders using a drop shipper, you must always:

    • Be the seller of record of your products;
    • Identify yourself as the seller of your products on all packing slips, invoices, external packaging, and other information included or provided in connection with them;
    • Remove any packing slips, invoices, external packaging, or other information identifying a third-party drop shipper prior to shipping the order;
    • Be responsible for accepting and processing customer returns of your products; and
    • Comply with all other terms of your seller agreement and applicable Amazon policies.

Examples of drop shipping that is not permitted:

    • Purchasing products from another online retailer and having that retailer ship directly to customers; or
    • Shipping orders with packing slips, invoices, external packaging, or other information indicating a seller name or contact information other than your own.

Failure to comply with these requirements may result in the suspension or removal of your selling privileges.

Now that we know the official Amazon policies, let’s look at some of the reasons why setting up your dropshipping business by selling on Amazon through AliExpress is a bad idea.

1. Long Shipping Times

If there is any expectations that Amazon has drilled into their customers, it’s to expect two day shipping. And now that they are working on One Day Prime shipping and even local shipping within an hour, expectations of quick deliveries are just that – expected.

So, if you are trying to sell products on Amazon that are being fulfilled through AliExpress, you’re going to not only get a lot of complaints for long shipping times (since it can take several weeks for the products to arrive from China), but you’ll also get a lot of canceled orders once they realize how long it will take to reach them.

And it doesn’t matter if you tell them in the product descriptions that it will take a long time because many people miss that information until after they’ve ordered, so complaints and cancellations will still be high…

…and if complaints and cancellations are high, don’t expect to keep your Amazon selling privileges very long.

2. Customer Support

Amazon requires that your business identification and contact information is on all shipping labels, boxes, packing slips and more that properly identify you as the seller and that you handle and support questions and product returns yourself. That means you’ll need to have a physical location to accept returned packages for refunding.

3. You Can’t Ship From Your AliExpress Supplier To Your Customer

Since Amazon doesn’t allow you to purchase from one retailer and have them ship to the customer on your behalf, you’d need to place your orders from AliExpress and have them delivered directly to Amazon for storage. So while you won’t have to handle inventory, you still need to purchase inventory in advance.

That means you must be confident that your products will sell since you are paying for the inventory before you sell, and not after as sale is made like traditional dropshipping.

In this case, you’re also not really acting as a drop shipper anymore, you’re acting more like a regular retail seller – you just don’t ever have to touch the inventory yourself.

Bottom line, trying to use Amazon like a storefront for your dropshipping business is not allowed in the typical drop shipping sense, so to make it work, you need to invest in inventory ahead of time and ship it in to be in compliance with Amazon’s terms…

…which means you’re no longer running a dropshipping business and you’re simply running an online retail eCommerce business with the Amazon FBA program.

And that’s a totally fine option if you want to go that route, but it’s not a drop ship business anymore.

Since we don’t want to invest in any inventory up front, and we never want to worry about storing products, fulfilling orders and flipping them out, and we want more control over our business, we’ll stick with our dropshipping business.

How Do I Find Best Selling Items On AliExpress?

There are a few good ways to find best selling and even trending products that are selling really well on AliExpress.

In fact, AliExpress has a special section on their website where they list their most popular products by both Hot Selling products by Category and their Weekly Bestsellers by Category.

Due to the popularity of that page, it can sometimes take a while for the products  in each category to load up for review.

It’s a great place to check out, especially during the holidays to see what’s selling really well. 

A note of caution though – we’d recommend avoiding trying to sell the latest fads and trends unless they directly tie into the theme of your eCom store, because we’ve seen enough people chase fads, only to lose a lot of money in the process… unless the products were in line with what they already sold. 

Now, if you only wanted to discover best selling products that were related to your store and niche, and not worry about what is hot selling in general, then this next method is the best way to find the best selling products.

It’s simple to do, just follow these steps:

  1. Go to


  1. Select a Category on the left hand navigation that is related to your store.


  1. Do a search for a product that you are considering selling.


  1. Filter the search results by selecting “Sort By: Orders” and check the doc next to 4 Stars & Up.


  1. The results will now be filtered by the products in that Category with the most purchases and that are also rated 4 stars and above, so they have a great sales history and great feedback.

You can see each top selling product in that Category, along with how many units have been sold and the star rating if you wanted to click in and start reading the product reviews.

You can also do the same search by Product instead of just by Category:
